What is WHOIS?
WHOIS is the public directory of domain names: it shows the registrar, registration and expiry dates, status and name servers. Since the GDPR, private owners’ identities are usually redacted.
What is the difference between WHOIS and RDAP?
RDAP is WHOIS’s official successor: the same information, but structured, secure (HTTPS) and multilingual. digdns queries RDAP first and falls back to classic WHOIS for extensions that do not offer it yet.
What does “clientTransferProhibited” mean?
It is a lock set by the registrar to prevent unauthorised transfers. It is normal and recommended; remove it at your registrar before transferring the domain.
